It was strange the long trip,
Sickening really,

As I inhaled the smell of throw up and defecation
Thoughts of happiness now seemed all imagination
But finally I saw the sun again,
while standing in front of the lighter skinned
It was then I knew my life had changed
From that point on I was a slave.
My days were long,
My nights were short,
Cooking, cleaning and washing clothes
Of course I was lucky because there were those,
Who, in the sun picked the cotton and plowed the fields
Who, when I was time for bed were so sore could barely kneel
But I couldn’t feel for them cauz Massa like other white men
